Blogmas 2017 – Day 11 – The Christmas Tag

With Christmas right around the corner, I thought I investigate this ‘Christmas Tag’ I keep seeing and low and behold, it took my fancy. It also turns out that I love reading these so if you have a go, leave me your links!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

I have never had a real tree. Now stop that feeling sorry for me, I’ve never wanted one. It doesn’t feel any more special to me. I grew up with fake trees and that’s what I like. I have been around real trees over the years so it’s not like and have never even seen one! But I’m happy with the non-real variety and the snow-tipped one this year is extra beautiful. Even if it does require hoovering every.single.day!

What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

Well, I suppose I have two. Something I never thought I would say as I haven’t ever really been into Christmas movies and most common favourites, such as Elf, just don’t do it for me.

First, I have to go for Home Alone. I don’t think there is a day that goes by where I don’t say ‘I’ll give it a whirl’ (you know, when Kevin is shopping for groceries) and I don’t think anyone had ever picked up the reference! What is with you lot!?

Second is Groundhog Day. Now I know this isn’t a technically a Christmas movie but it feels Christmassy what with ice sculptures and snowmen. I just love that film. Highlights are Ned Ryerson getting punched and the daily ‘Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cooooold out there today’. Those to name but a few. So many great quotes in this movie.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

I have always been miffed that everyone else seems to have a tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve. Nobody has EVER let me do this. Scroogey old parents and boyfriend. These days we don’t open presents until later in the day. How my 8-year-old niece copes with that is beyond me.

Favourite festive food?

A tough one. Christmas is very much about food (isn’t my whole life!?) but at the moment it’s all about the party food. Regular readers of mine know I am like a walking Aldi advert an since they released their Christmas party food range I’m obsessed. I can literally eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner. But, of course, I make room to fit in the traditional turkey, roasties and chocolate. I might do this tag again next year to see how things have changed!

Favourite Christmas scent?

Although I come across this during the year, the scent of clementines (or satsumas!? What were they mum?) really reminds me of Christmas. I’m not sure why but I get that sense of nostalgia every single time.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m not bad. I am quite a creative person at heart and I like to try to make gifts look special. I am actually going to be doing a post on my gifts this year and how I am wrapping them. Look out for that soon!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Here is a list of my top 12 Christmas songs, some traditional some not so much. Take a look and see if you agree! If not, no beating me up about it.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Before I left home, everyone used to come to us for Christmas dinner. As the years moved on things evolved and the family would just come round for Christmas morning. Then the four of us (parents and brother) would spend the rest of the day at home. Since I lived elsewhere, it has been the usual juggling act of visiting. My priorities are finding a way to drink Buck’s Fizz for breakfast alongside visiting everyone and roping the boyfriend into driving.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Spending time with and friends. I talked about this is my Letter to Santa post just the other day if you fancy taking a look and, this year, I get to see Christmas through the ideas of little people all under the age of eight.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

I’ll try. Dancer and Prancer, Comet and Cupid, Vixen is one and then, of course, there is Rudolph… that’s all I’ve got, it has been too long.

*Googles*

Oh yeah, so Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid, Dunder and Blixem, wait… what!?

So, those last two are more commonly known as Donner and Blitzen. You can read more courtesy of The Huffington Post.

I decided not to tag individuals to undertake this tag but, of course, if you as a reader fancy giving it a go then please do and leave me your links below so that I can take a look!
