Hello everyone and welcome to the first of a new series of food-related content.
As you may know, I am now working on my blog and YouTube channel full-time. One of the things I am quite aware of is the fact that I don’t just talk about one thing on my channel and that doesn’t necessarily suit everyone.
If you are have followed my channel streams for a while, you may know that I also talk about diet. The two particular aspects of diet are Slimming World and LOW FODMAP. Slimming World is a healthy eating plan that I have followed on and off for the 10 years. In addition, having been told by a consultant that I have IBS, I have also talked about following a Low FODMAP way of eating, which can help to ease the symptoms.
Now, a little bit of context in terms of how things have been since my last FODMAP update.
If you didn’t see my FODMAP update, I’ll link it if you are interested, I talked there about the fact that I have learned what I need to do to ease my digestive woes. I don’t stick to Low FODMAP eating all of the time, but I have incorporated some of the principles into my life and I do from time to time, revert back to it when I feel that I need it.
I have fallen off the Slimming World Wagon big time. I haven’t been able to get my head back in the game in over a year. However, much like with the low FODMAP side of things, there are many Slimming World aspects that I incorporate day-to-day.
For me, when you try to combine the principles and find a balance between getting the best of both Slimming World and Low FODMAP, it can actually be quite difficult. Maybe others find this to be easy, I don’t know. One of the main issues is that Slimming World is all about flavouring. Using additional ingredients to enhance the flavours is key to Slimming World. Where this conflicts with Low FODMAP, is that things such as garlic and onion. These ingredients, among others, are included in a large majority of Slimming World meals for flavour and are very high in FODMAPs. Therefore it can be tricky to create Slimming World friendly LOW FODMAP meals.
However, I am going to try. At the moment, I upload a Slimming World recipe to my blog each Thursday. My plan is to convert this weekly upload to a food Friday post and video. This will consist of information relating to FODMAP and/or Slimming World. My aim is that these posts will satisfy both as that is my own digestive direction, but we will see. I have a few recipes lined up and I have done some low FODMAP (and Slimming World friendly) shopping, which I recorded, so that will be my first video in this series. I am really looking forward to this and I hope that you are too. Hopefully, this is also good news as I know that lots of you subscribed to me through my FODMAP related videos.
So that’s where we are. As always, thank you for your time. To make sure you don’t miss any future Food Friday content, you can subscribe here. I hope to see you next time. Take care.
