Greetings Food Fridayers. Today is another What I Eat In A Day with a particular focus on Slimming World.
I started the day knowing that I had a pack of aldi sausages in the fridge needing to be used up. However, as you will see if you watch the video, I got the syn values wrong. I was incorrectly under the impression that they were 1.5 syns each. Well, they used to be but they have since been re-evaluated. Isn't that always the way? The things you like are always re-evaluated to be higher syn than they were! Except for tomato puree. I was pretty pleased when that became syn free.
One slice from a Warburton's wholemeal 400g loaf (available in Aldi) with tinned spaghetti and an egg fried in Frylight. I then followed this with some strawberries to add speed food to the meal.
For lunch, I opted for sausage pasta with tomato and spring onions. I used two sausages, which I chopped which made the dish 6 syns in total. Not the 3 I had originally planned for. I also chopped some spring onions and tomatoes, fried them lightly and then mixed them with some tinned tomatoes and cooked conchiglie pasta.
For Steak Tuesday, dinner was Steak with syn free slimming world fries, an egg and then roasted tomatoes and green peppers. I have to say, this was delicious!
Today, I opted to have some snacks. First up, the mango. Oops, I did it again. I ate a whole mango. But, other than being high in FODMAPs, there are much worse things I could be eating than mango which, as it happens, is my most favourite fruit. Then I opted for some Aldi Monster Claws at 4.5 syns per packet. No, these don't taste as fabulous as the real Monster Munch deal but they're alright, and I went for roast beef flavour.
As I mentioned in the video, I have been somewhat conscious of my Food Friday content focussing less on low fodmap foods for IBS and more on Slimming World. But there is a reason for this. When I stay on plan more regularly, I find that I don't need to worry so much about what I eat. I assume that this is to do with consuming fewer troublesome carbs these days which, in turn, vastly reduces my overall fodmap intake.
So, having originally thought that my day had consisted of 7.5 syns, it was in fact 10.5. Still, happily within my syn allowance so all is far from lost.
